about

When he’s not busy tutoring on the origins of Calculus, Washington DC by-way-of Queens
mastermind Outputmessage, born-as Bernard Farley, is busy creating lush techno bangers with a side dish of electropop crooners. While he may be known for his unique brand of IDM which has garnered critical acclaim on labels such as Ghostly International and Melodic, Bernard has recently began turning the techno community on its head with a new series of 4/4 offerings.

Mirrors demands your attention from the onset with its panoply of syncopated synth stabs. Not to be outdone, within a few bars a growling bassline makes itself known, nicely offsetting the high end atmospherics. Just when you think this track is destined for a tropical island resort, a brilliantly detuned breakdown snaps you back into stark reality. This track is no vacation. The mathematician is back, displaying a precise knowledge in both synthesizer and abacus sliders.

Craig Sopo gets 7 years of bad luck by breaking the Mirrors Anthony Rother style. Stripping down the original elements, this remix lets the original synths shine while layering on a simple yet effective arpeggiated bassline. Mirror mirror, on the wall, who can melt the most face of all?
